  1. Identification Please, Liz Magic Laser, 2016, newspaper and video installation, 6:16 minutes. Project developed through a series of workshops with Tina Lüers’ and Kerstin Bruns’ students at Max-Planck-Gymnasium Göttingen. Commissioned and produced by Kunstverein Göttingen.

  2. Identification Please is comprised of workshops, a newspaper publication and a video installation that served as the centerpiece of Liz Magic Laser’s survey exhibition at Kunstverein Göttingen. Laser worked with a class of middle school students taught by Tina Lüers and a group of young refugees participating in a language learning class taught by Kerstin Bruns at the Max-Planck- Gymnasium Göttingen. Laser led the students through a series of workshops, examining the influence news images have on our perceptions. Through writing and movement-based exercises, the students were prompted to identify with the politicians, citizens and refugees represented in front page news stories. Laser incorporated the students’ writings into a newspaper publication that drew connections between their personal experiences and their views of current events. The photographs and videos created during these workshops were integrated into the central installation in the exhibition, Identification Please, where the newspaper was also on display.
